The Kingdom Social took place at the Platinum Nightlife an Event and Entertainment Complex in Winston-Salem, NC. While there, we provided event photography and on-site printing services for the performers and guests that desired it using our portable studio and event printer. We also had to a chance to see what wonderful talent Winston-Salem had to offer as the musicians, comedians, and poets, and speakers offered their gifts and talents to the promotion of the Kingdom of God.

The party was the encore to the previous year’s party sponsored by several members of the FSU chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Once the dance party got started we could clearly see why folks would want an encore. With over a thousand guests in attendance, the crowd certainly looked like they had a great time and wanted more than the time would allow…So much so, that when the party ended at 3:00 am several hundred guests were asked to leave.

After guest dined on delicacies inspired by Chinese, Japanese, and Thai food we invited them to stand in front of our portable backdrops where we would photograph them and immediately print the images. Our presence seemed to be a popular enhancement for many of the guests since the pop and flash give the birthday party more of a “Hollywood” feel.

In addition to providing event photography during the church services, we also produced headshots for flyers and promotional materials leading up to the event. The Daughter’s of Wisdom was a great organization to work with and we look forward to seeing them grow throughout the years.

This wedding was a pleasant break from our recent norm. Most recently we have been spending the bulk of my photographic time on headshot photography for actors, models, and others with website photo needs along with event photography, which included event coverage and providing onsite printing services for parties, concerts, birthdays, church socials, and corporate events. However, we were more than happy to oblige the request of an excited couple to provide them with our wedding photography services. Even though it was a request that would cause us to drive from Greensboro, NC to Stafford, VA to Clinton, MD for the big day, we were glad we made the trip! We had a great time and it was a beautiful occasion made even more special by the music ministry of Richard L. Jones – a gifted pianist and vocalist. Below are a few wedding photos to mark that occasion. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we did making them.

The Hayti Heritage Center was originally constructed in 1891 when it was formerly known as St. Joseph’s AME Church. During it’s “hey day” this national historic landmark and impressive example of Victorian architecture was visited by none other than W.E.B. Dubois who stated that, “never in all my travels have I seen a church as great as St. Joseph’s.”

In the 1970′s it became the Hayti Heritage Center after the St. Joseph’s AME Church congregation moved to a new church home. Since then, the building has played host to numerous theater productions, blues musicians, jazz artists, painters, educational professionals, and entrepreneurs of every sort.

As we worked throughout the building we were constantly aware that we stood amongst history. It was a moving experience that was further punctuated by the incredible talent Fred had amassed for the concert. The concert featured performances by the Kevin Jones Experience (Charlotte, NC), the Tanya Ross Project, Pete’s Kids (Greensboro, NC), and Mr. Larry Clay. We split our time between standing in awe of the building, watching the concert, photographing the concert, and taking portraits of those who desired our onsite photographic printing. We had such a great time that we ended up talking about our experience all the way back to Greensboro, NC.

In preparation for the event the father’s showed up wearing their best or in tuxes, while the young ladies wore tiaras. We were their to capture the moment while also providing on-site printing of the formal photographs. Below are just a few images that were taken that evening. The “Princess and Her King” was a terrific event, which truly brought the best out of each every person that participated.  Everyone seemed to have a really good time – you can see it in the eyes of each and every photograph.
